According to Felbermayer's documentation, this piece was found by Eugenio Huki, a Rapanui friend of Felbermayer, in a burial chamber on the islet Motu Nui (about 1200 meters southwest of the Rapa Nui cost). Although this piece was carved for exchange, the invocation of burial chambers or family caves was a narrative used to increase the value of the objects, suggesting that they were ancient pieces.
