Welcoming Vilsoni Hereniko to LMU Munich as CAS Fellow
We are delighted to welcome Vilsoni Hereniko — affiliated team member of our ERC project and Professor at the School of Cinematic Arts, University of Hawaiʻi Mānoa — as a Fellow at the Center for Advanced Studies (CAS) at LMU Munich this summer.
Vilsoni is an award-winning filmmaker, playwright, and scholar whose work focuses on Indigenous storytelling, cultural identity, climate change, and the politics of representation in media. As part of our project, he has significantly contributed to exploring Indigenous cosmologies and environmental imaginaries through film, most notably with his short films Sina ma Tinirau (2021) and Woven (2024).
During his stay in Munich, Vilsoni will participate in the CAS lecture series "The Fine Tuned Universe," where he will speak alongside Michela Massimi (University of Edinburgh) in the session titled Woven Worlds: Thinking Through Cosmologies, moderated by Philipp Schorch.
